Guest Designer February 2009 - Julianne McKenna - |
My name is Julianne McKenna-De Lumen (otherwise known as Jules). I live in warm and sunny Brisbane, Australia (while wishing I could be somewhere cold and snowing). I have only been scrapbooking for 3 years (yes, I’m still a novice in many ways). For me, it is a huge thrill and honour to be a guest designer for Sweet Pea Scraps. So thank-you for having faith in me, and I hope I can inspire you to build, strengthen and release your creativity.
I have two darling daughters, Malayla (6) and Keana (5), both willing subjects for my endless photos and scrapbooking. I have been married to my husband Antonio for 8 years (and I’ll let you in on a little secret – we met on a blind date!).
My scrapping style changes constantly. Every time I think I have it worked out, I learn a new technique, or use a new product, and my style changes all over again. I tend to use a lot of cardstock and “whitespace”. Oh, and bling!!! Lots of that (hence my nickname – “The Bling Princess”). My layouts tend to be clean, girly, classic and uncluttered.
In my spare time (not that I have much of that), I go to the gym, read (love the Twilight series and most science fiction/fantasy genres), go to the movies, learn karate with my daughters and husband, and enjoy traveling (anywhere, anytime).
I am a design team member for both Blossies (www.blossies.com.au) and Scrap With V (www.scrapwithv.com.au). I have been with both stores for nearly 2 years. I have also just accepted a position with Crafty Sketches (http://craftysketches.blogspot.com/) sketch site commencing soon. And I have just started my own blog (Jules the Bling Princess) and it is very much a work in progress, as I learn from my mistakes.

I am a co-owner of Sweet Pea Scraps and couldn't ask for a better partner than Kristin. I have been married to my wonderful husband Roy for almost 16 years and we have two sons, Brad and Kristopher.
I think the secret to our marriage is that after a day of shopping at the local scrapbook store, he never asked me how much money I spent! He actually got applause from other shoppers at a store one time when he told me (quite loudly) to buy whatever I wanted, money was no object! Of course what they didn’t know was that he was heading to the sporting goods store with more money than I had.
Like so many others, I wouldn’t have started scrapbooking if it hadn’t been for my kids. They have been my joy and inspiration through the years and slowly I have come to realize that I have them to thank for this obsession!! I have been scrapbooking for almost 11 years now and I am still just as passionate about it as I was on day one. I love patterned paper, embellishments of all kinds, computer fonts and truly deep journaling on my pages. For me, scrapbooking is my creative outlet, a release from my crazy, hectic life with a nine to five job, one teenager son, one adult son and my hunting and fishing obsessed husband. Life is never dull at our house!

I am a co-owner of Sweet Pea Scraps and a stay at home mom to two very active girls, Elsa is 6 and Eva is 4. My husband, Will is an awesome partner and Dad and is very supportive of all my crafts. Like many of you I started scrapbooking after my first child was born…although if I really look back my very first scrapbook was of Duran Duran magazine clippings in 1985! I would consider myself an “average” scrapbooker who sometimes just wants the page done and doesn’t fret about that fact that it’s not a masterpiece. I love how scrapbooking is an international art form and hobby that women (and yes some very talented men) all over the world are embracing. I recently found a scrapbooking website in the Czech Republic, where I taught English for 18 months – I was so excited that the Czech’s are cropping too!! What an awesome way to bring people together. I can’t think of a better community to be a part of.

Jenn Stevens |
Hi! I'm Jennifer Stevens from the beautiful state of Montana. I’m the wife of 9 years to Shawn and mom to George ‘Mathew' (5/31/00) and Von ‘Auston' (2/7/02) who are the subjects of most of my scrapbook layouts.
I began scrappin' shortly after my wedding in 1997...( what WAS I thinking?? ). I’m thankful that my style has evolved…oh so thankful. Scrapbooking isn’t only my passion but it’s my time… time that I have to myself…away from the kids and the demands of my everyday life. The outlet it provides for me is treasured and luckily my husband supports my obsession completely. (Well, he ought to…or he would have to give up hunting!!) I love new challenges and products but mostly I love just being able to create a legacy for my children...one page at a time. It brings me great pleasure to watch my boys flip through their albums, excited and wanting me to tell the story all over again. To me, that is what scrapbooking is all about.
I’m honored and excited to be a part of the Sweet Pea Design Team!! I hope to be able to provide you with just a tidbit of inspiration along with the other talented girls on the team!

Hi! My name is Abbie Torroll. I am a proud Air Force wife and the mother of two boys, Landon and Gavin. I am married to my college sweetheart and we currently live in Panama City Beach, Florida. When I am not scrapping, I enjoy hanging out with my family, photography, spending time outdoors, running and Wii Mario Cart :)
I started scrapbooking when I was in Junior High. My mom went through a VERY short scrapbooking phase, and although she lost interest, I was HOOKED!! So much in the scrapbooking industry has changed since then, and thank goodness! I love everything about scrapbooking. I love the "me" time it creates. I love celebrating all of life's little moments that I never want to forget, and I love the feeling of creating something beautiful with my hands. I don't think a day goes by that I don't do something scrappy, whether it be scrapping a new page, printing off pics, or just thinking about a new idea for a layout!
I truly am passionate about Sweet Pea Scraps and I am absolutely honored to design for them. I can't wait to get started!

Hi - I'm Heather and I'm thrilled to be part of the Sweet Pea Scraps Team. I've been scrapping approx 5 years. I do mainly paper but I dabble a little in digi. I love to focus on the photos and try to be a little different , add a little humor and don't necessarily focus on what the current trends are (I'm usually way behind). I love bold bright colors, graphic style design and some interesting journaling. Right now I seem to be really into making cards. I can't say no to a challenge.
I'm originally from Northern Ireland but now live in Anchorage, Alaska (so please excuse any funny spellings). I've been married for 12 years to dh Dan. Since he's gone hunting a lot I get lots of time to scrap. The main subjects in my layouts are my dd Lauren (who is always ready with a pose), Nathan (who is always trying to get away from my camera) and Kona (our Chesapeake Bay Retriever), Meow, Deshka and Athena (our kitties)
I LOVE to travel, to read, and learn new skills. I also love to build and fix things. Basically I'm a jack of all trades and master of none.

2009 Design Team Member Hi, I’m Nicole Stark. I reside in Roy, UT, a little town about 30 minutes north of Salt Lake, with my husband Brandon and son Wesley. I started scrapbooking shortly after my son was born and have been scrap obsessed now for 6 years.
I jumped into the publishing scene in 2003. Since then I’ve had the opportunity of having my work seen in Cantata Books, Scrapbook Trends, Cards, Handmade, Blue Media, Leisure Arts, and Memory Makers Magazine, even winning the title of Memory Makers Master in 2007.
I love the color purple, Mexican food, time outside with my family, reading, photography, and playing around with my newest addiction, digital scrapbooking.

2009 Design Team Member Hi! I'm Vivian Huizinga & I live in beautiful Owen Sound, Ontario, Canada. I am a stay at home Mom to 3 awesome kids - Renee is nine, Ethan is eight and Erica is three. I've been married to my high school sweetheart Richard for 11 years. I'm also a part time custodian and school bus driver for my kiddos school.
I started scrapbooking 3 years ago when I wanted to give my parents a unique gift for their 35th wedding anniversary. I wasn't supposed to keep up with it once the album was done, but I haven't quit since! It's such a relaxing creative outlet for me, so I try to find time to do something scrapbook related every day.
When I'm not scrapbooking you can find me in my kitchen cooking up a storm, or curled up on the couch with my nose buried in a good book. I'm so excited and honored to be a part of the Sweet Pea Scraps Design Team this year!

Guest Designer January 2009 Lauren Hagerman |
| Howdy! My name is Lauren Hagerman and I live in Nothern Colorado with my wonderful husband Andy and our two lovely doggie ladies, Hailey & Crackers. I have been scrapbooking 3 years in the "modern" scrapbooking way, although I glued things down as a young girl (see here: http://doublehdesign.blogspot.com/2008/05/and-winner.html). I have always loved the scrapbooks and journals you see in movies (like Cruel Intentions and Divine Secrets of Ya Ya Sisterhood) so it seemed only nature that scrapbooking would appear in my life and while it did once in high school and another time in college, it "stuck" when I got married. If that isn't enough, you can check me out on my blog at Lauren'S BLOG

Howdy! I'm Ally (Allison Cope Israels). I am a 31 year old stay at home mom to one little boy, Spencer and dedicated wife and best friend to my husband Todd. Our small family of 3 live in Bothwell, Ontario, Canada... a small quiet town in Southwestern Ontario. I have been scrapping for over 2 years now and I can honestly say I am a true addict. I enjoy all the aspects of scrapbooking and always find time to create each and every day. I have a very supportive husband who understands my addiction to create and allows to sit down and scrap every day. When I am not at my desk, I love to spend time with my family, especially out doors! We are quite often seen trekking the local provincial park trails with my camera around my neck. I swear, my camera might as well be labeled "Baby #2"! Since purchasing our current digital camera 2 years ago, I have taken almost 19,000 photos. Can you say... another addiction??? I am honoured to be a part of the Sweet Pea Scraps design team and I hope to provide you with lots of wonderful inspiration to get your creative juices flowing! Happy scrapping everyone! I'm just a regular gal that names scrapbooking as my passion! I completely love it! I enjoy the creative outlet it gives me as well as the satisfaction of making something that pays tribute to what is most important to me in life . . . my family. I have been scrapbooking for over 10 years. It's become a part of my daily life and a part who I am. My scrapbooking style is eclectic with clean lines. I mostly make 12 X 12 pages, but I also enjoy creating cards and the occasional altered project or mini book. If I'm not scrapping, I'm perusing interior design magazines, hanging out at scrapbook message boards, or celebrating life with my family. I'm hopelessly addicted to chocolate and Diet Coke and love watching HGTV while I scrap. I am a stay-at-home mom to 3 daughters and 1 son and have been married to my best friend, Kevin, for almost 11 years. We live in Bountiful, Utah.

Hi, I am Chantel Grismer I live in Fort Saskatchewan, Alberta, Canada… (outside of Edmonton, Ab.) I am a wife to my best friend Cory. I have two beautiful children, Coby (December 3, 2003) and Calleigh (May 8, 2007). I have been scrapbooking since my son Coby was born in 2003. I think I may have done a little bit before that just putting photo albums together but this was when I became a more “serious” scrapbooker. My education background is in Interior Design but I am a SAHM to my kiddos. I have many other hobbies that all in some way end up being incorporated into my scrapbooking. I try to be a frugal scrapbooker as much as I can, as I find it challenging and rewarding. I enjoy creating memories for my children and family. I hope they look back on their albums and cherish the moments as I did watching them happen. I am honored to be a part of the Sweet Pea Scraps design team. I look forward to contributing my ideas and working with such a wonderful team of individuals!!

I live in Illinois with my husband Brian and 3 kids, Levi-12, Logan-8, and Lily-3. We live a crazy busy life, but wouldn't have it any other way.
Besides scrapbooking my favorite thing to do is to spend time with my hubby.
Sometime that's a trip to the grocery store without the kids, but we'll take it...and chance we get! I have been scrappin' for almost 14 years. I love it now more than ever. We built a new house 3 years ago, and the first room that was finished and moved into was my scraproom. I spend at least 2 hours a day in there. When I started scrappin' it was about preserving memories for my family...now, it is about the creative process for me. There is just something about the art of it that has drawn me in. I can't imagine a time in my life when scrappin' isn't a part of it. I am thrilled to have been selected as a new SPS Design Team member and can't wait to work with their great kits!!

I'm a California native, originally from Southern California. I now reside in the San Francisco Bay Area. I have been married to my super supportive, husband,Brad for over 8 years. Our son James is 5 and our daughter Lauren is almost 3. They are the most adorable kids ever and much of my scrapbooking is of them. They give me inspiration and I am never short of "life moments" to scrap. Scrapbooking is my favorite creative outlet. I have been scrapping for 9 years and since that time, my love of it has grown along with the industry itself. Through scrapbooking I have also developed a love of photography. I enjoy the whole process of scrapping the pictures that I take myself. My favorite scrap items seem to change with all of the wonderful goodies that become available, but currently I have a love of beautiful patterned paper, ribbon (I can't get enough of that), and just about anything chipboard. Since I recently became a Certified Labor Doula, when I am not completely engrossed in scrapbooking, I enjoy building that career as well. I am ecstatic about being a member of Sweet Pea Scraps talented Design Team. I am also being published for the 1st time in an upcoming issue of PaperART Magazine.

I have been scrapbooking for about 6 years. My favorite subject is my
family: my husband Patrick, my daughter Sarah, 10, and my son Sam, 9, and our dogs Mango,16, and Phoenix, our Goldendoodle puppy. I was a technical writer for many years, but am now a SAHM. When I'm not scrapping or hanging out with my family, I like to cook, read mysteries and make travel plans. I have been published in Scrapbook Answers and have publications upcoming in Creating Keepsakes, a Cantata idea book, and the Chatterbox Make It Meaningful book. The publications are fun, but my biggest scrapbooking thrill is still watching my kids get lost in our scrapbook albums: reading, giggling and reminiscing.

When I’m not scrapbooking, I’m spending time with my four kidlets (ages 4-12) and my husband of 14 years (Ryan). I consider myself religious, but imperfect, and have a drive to help people. That’s why I love to share my passion!
Speaking of this passion, I fell into scrapbooking headfirst around January 2004. Before that, I thought it would be a good hobby, but there was no reason to go totally nuts over it. Like…what’s with the special scrapbooking suitcases? Little did I know! Now, I’d work on it for hours a day if I could. I’m preserving memories, and I’m getting therapy along the way!
It’s a pleasure working for Sweet Pea Scraps which besides having the cutest name ever, is owned by two awesome gals and I get to work with some amazing and wonderful designers, too. And did you see these kits? I’m one lucky girl.

My love for everything creative has realized it's self in scrapbooking. I am addicted. I have been scrapping for about 12 years now and I just can't imagine my life without it. As a dedicated wife to Len (soon to be 18 years) and a SAHM to our wonderful children, Matthew (16), Adam (13), Caleb (10) and Michaela (9) I find so much joy in sharing our everyday lives in this creative outlet. As a professional photographer what better way to share the intimate details of our lives. When I'm not scrapbooking (which is just about everyday) I enjoy photography, reading, shopping, traveling and just spending time with my family and friends. Having moved to Montana 7 years ago from sunny So California, I am learning to enjoy the life of rural Montana, as I am a city girl at heart. I am honored to be part of this design team and I look forward to sharing my passion for scrapbooking with you.

Guest Designer Laura Vegas |
| Hey everyone! My name is Laura Vegas. I live in sunny California with my husband of almost 10 years, Joe. And we have 2 gorgeous girls, Alyssa (12 years old) and Sarah (9 years old). Both are very busy girls with lots of activities going on, including their 6th year of soccer which is in full swing right now. I work full-time in my home as a Daycare Provider. The ages I care for range from newborns all the way up to 8 years old. One of the extra perks of my job, is that I have lots of different faces around to photograph and scrap! My girls and the daycare kiddos are the main focus of my scrapbook albums, but every once in a while I manage to work in a layout or two about myself. I have been scrapping for almost 13 years now, and in the past 2 years I have also been really focusing on improving my photography skills. My scrapbook style is very clean and linear, tons of fun and bright colors, and lots of details and embellishments. You'll usually find 3-4 photos on my layouts, but I also love to use just one photo when it's one I really love. My work has been published in various magazines and idea books such as PaperKuts, Creating Keepsakes, PaperCrafts, Scrapbooks Etc, Scrapbook Trends, Paper Trends, and Cards. I was chosen to be a part of the 2006 PaperKuts Power Team, have been on the Lil Davis Design Team, and am currently a member of the Making Memories Design Team. I was thrilled when Julie asked me to be a guest designer this month, along with Molly. She had mentioned that they had put together a kit that was "right up your alley", and they were totally right! I had so much fun working with this kit, and I hope you all enjoy seeing what i came up with! |

Guest Designer Eve Johnson |
| My name is Eve Johnson (Tran). I just got married to my best friend of 5 1/2 years, Eddie. I'm mama to Golden Retriever Mylo and a full time registered nurse in home care. My full time job can be really depressing at times and I love that I have my crafts to keep me mentally sound (somewhat lol!). We live in a cute little "built green" townhome in a city outside of Vancouver, BC Canada. I think this new home of ours is making me into this new "greener" person--I'm even recycling the paper wrappings that gauze comes in and my plastic apron when I'm doing dressing changes. I'm loving the weird looks I get from my clients!
My interests include photography, scrapbooking, making other crafts and baking doggie biscuits for Mylo. I don't know how to describe my style because it changes every so often but one thing I know that is constant is the colours blue and green. My artwork has been published in various magazines such as Creating Keepsakes, Scrapbook Trends, Stamp It Cards, and Canadian Scrapbooker. In 2006, I was super lucky to win CK's "Turn In Your Friend" Contest that my sb friend Sandy entered me in, and another online store's 20K contest.
This year, I opened my own cute little shop selling handmade things (mini books, cards and unique embellishments that feature recycled/upcycled items in one way or another) on etsy and that's how Julie Baird (Sweetpeascraps co-owner) and I met. She asked if I would make a custom order for her shop! I'm so excited to share my handmade quote bubbles with you this month and I hope that you enjoy using them on your artwork as much as I enjoyed making them!

Guest Designer Elizabeth Wickland |
Guest Designer March 2008
Hi! My name is Elizabeth Wickland and I am excited to be the guest designer for Sweet Pea Scraps this month! I started out stamping and cardmaking 17 years ago and transitioned into scrapbooking when I got married in December 2000. Scrapbooking is my creative outlet. It keeps me sane! I have a wonderfully supportive husband and beautiful 19 month old daughter who are the subjects of most of my scrapbooking. As a stay at home mom, I try to scrapbook whenever I have the chance, in the evenings or during naptime. I feel blessed to to live in the beautiful state of Montana and draw a lot of inspiration from the colors and patterns in the natural landscape here. All of the seasons are so beautiful and lend themselves to outdoor activities and a proliferation of pictures! Both my husband and I love to take pictures, so there is never a shortage of material to scrapbook. My scrapbooking style is always changing, as I love trying new techniques and learning new things.

Guest Designer January 2008 Hi! My name is Jill Deiling, I'm from the beautiful state of Montana. I was born and raised in Alaska, but I moved to Montana over 6 years ago. I am 23 years old, and have a wonderful job, family, home, I just have a wonderful life in general! I spend most of my time working, playing with and taking care of my son, and scrapbooking every chance that I get! I started scrapbooking right after I moved to Montana, and I have been ever since. Throughout the years I have been scrapping, I have slowly been discovering the styles and techniques that appeal to me, and trying to come up with my own fun and unique ideas. Each day I think I become more of a scrap addict than I was the day before! My other hobbies include singing, photography, and many different kinds of arts and crafts. Art and music inspire me more than anything. My two favorite scrapping subjects are my 2 year old son, Alex, and my boyfriend, John. They are the two most important people in the world to me!

Guest Designer Wendy Reed |
Guest Designer March 2007
Hi, I live in Southern Nevada where it's nice and HOT! I started scrapbooking in February 2002. A friend of mine talked me into going to a scrapbook convention. I had attempted to scrapbook before, but it was just too overwhelming, so I said yes. Maybe I could get some help. I went and have been addicted since then! Maybe obsessed is the better word. My style is bright, fun, funky and my own thing. The only rule I follow in scrapbooking or design is to follow the rule of 3's. Besides that I do what I want.
I am married to my husband Mike, 14 years! He is incredibly supportive with everything I do. Love that about him. We have a 14 year old son, Shon. Who is incredibly handsome and pretty much the best kid on the planet! We share the same birthday, but I would give up my glory day for him anytime. We have 2 dogs. Both chihuahuas, Penny and Micki who are the little ones of the family. So ok, I lied. We really have 3 kids!
My designs have been published with Creating Keepsakes, Memory Makers, Paper Kuts and Simple Scrapbook magazines. I am currently on manufacturer design teams for Urban Lily and Queen & Co along with a couple online stores. I love to take photos of people, I am not much on scrapping "things" or holidays. Both freak me out. I currently am a stay at home mom and have started my own business NOT scrapbook related, but also creative! I create handbags. I handsew part of them and machine stitch the rest. I love it! It's another creative venue for me.
I am so excited to be part of the team here at Sweet Pea Scraps for the month of March! Thanks for inviting me!

Guest Designer Hillary Heidelberg |
June 2007
Hillary Heidelberg began scrapbooking 5 years ago after the birth of her first child. Initially, she used (and bought) just about every supply out there. She eventually realized that she much prefers the cleaner, simpler look for her own pages. Hillary has been published in Creating Keepsakes, BHG's Scrapbooks, Etc, and Memory Makers magazine. She was selected as a Memory Makers Master for 2007 and teaches online scrapbook classes at http://www.nycscraps.com. She lives in New York City with her husband, Michael and their two boys, Luca and Julian. Since marrying Michael, she has downsized her animal menagerie to one black cat named Sunday. |

Guest Designer Amy Farnsworth |
Guest Designer May 2007
I'm Amy - a 26 year old mama and scrapbooker! I've been married to my best friend, Ryan, for 6 years now. We currently live in Denver Colorado and have two spunky children that constantly keep me hopping. I began scrapbooking as a teenager, but didn't become serious about it until my son was born. I dove in head first when I quit my job to follow my dream of becoming a stay at home mom. When I'm not scrapbooking, I can be at the park with the kids, enjoying the zoo, or spending time with friends and family. My other interests are photography, cooking and anything that gets my hands dirty! Scrapbooking is so much more than a hobby to me.
It's my passion, my creative flair, how I express myself and record those everyday fleeting moments. It's how I escape and recharge my mommy batteries. I am a better person all the way around because of this wonderful hobby!

Guest Designer April 2007
Hello! I'm Celia and I currently live in a small town in the Bay Area, CA.
I am a stay-at-home mom that incidentally never is at home! I've been married for five years and have two little boys, Jacob 3yr and Caleb almost 2yr. They are a riot and keep me on my toes! I also am a children's freelance photographer, which is one of my biggest passions. As for scrapbooking...its a big part of my life. I don't necessarily live, breathe, eat it (I would get indigestion)...but every night after the boys are in bed, I get to pull out my scrappy goodies and play! Its just so much fun- AND therapeutic (that's what I tell my hubby cheaper than therapy..)! I also have the honor of working with a few manufacturers- Imagination Project, Carolee's Creations, and Piggy Tales. And that's all folks....

Guest Designer February 2007
Hi! I am Gretchen McElveen. I live in Helena, AL with my husband and our dog. No kids for us yet…but soon! I work full time as a physical therapist in an outpatient clinic but of course I would rather be scrapbooking! My aunt introduced me to scrapbooking by way of Creative Memories during college but I did not get serious about it until after we got married in 2002. I still have the corner rounder that I bought during my first CM party!! Scrapbooking is such an incredible hobby! It is my creative outlet and a way to express emotions and feelings I often have difficulty saying. It is my way of documenting life and the special people who are such a big part of it. I cannot think of a much better way of spending my time! I am excited to be able to share my work with you for this month! Thank you so much for this opportunity! |
