Driving Tall - I've been drving a school bus for almost 9 years (off and on) now, and this past June I asked my oldest daughter to snap these pictures of me driving. They were taken at the end of my route on the way back to the yard to drop off the bus for the night, after all my students were off the bus. The pictures are meant to show how it looks from the drivers seat, and the journaling reflects on why I both love and hate my job. From my stash - the Doodlebug brad.

Renee's Room Set - This is a set I made for my oldest daughter - a notebook, pencil box and an "R" to hang on her bedroom door. Her favorite colour is purple, so this kit was perfect for this little project. The purple flowers are from the June 2008 kit & the Hero Arts felt flowers are from my stash. The book, box and big letter all came from the dollar store.

Remember (ing Pier 21) - I got slightly emotional while making this layout - I think this is one of the more meaningful ones I've done this year. Thanks goes to my sister as I borrowed a couple of her pictures for the page.
One of the highlights of our Halifax trip in June was a trip to Pier 21, the port where my Dad and his family came into when they immigrated to Canada from Holland. We visited the archive room and Dad signed the copy of the passenger manifest of his boat, the Waterman, beside where his name was printed. My Dad has a bunch of the original documents, letters and pictures from when they immigrated, so I scanned all of them into my photo editing program, printed them smaller and placed them in two pockets cut in the page. My favorites are the Immigration ID cards that were stamped Apr 1 1952 and signed by both my grandparents.

Beautiful Bride - This is my mother in 1971 on her wedding day - isn't she lovely? When I saw the papers in the kit this month, I knew that they matched these pictures perfectly! So I snitched my parent's wedding album and scanned in the pictures. Also, I have popped up the pictures and calender slightly to give the layout a bit of dimension. The Jenni Bowlin calendar is from the Feb '09 kit and the brads and AC Thickers are from my stash.

Flexible - My youngest daughter can sit like this forever! It makes my knees sore just looking at her. The Doodlebug brads are from my stash. This is a lift of Carolyn Peeler's LO on page 27 of the Fall 2006 Canadian Scrapbooker magazine.

Don't Look Back: I love this quote from Ralph Walso Emerson. It reads,"Finish each day and be done with it. You have done what you could; some blunders and absurdities have crept in; forget them as soon as you can. Tomorrow is a new day; you shall begin it serenely and with too high a spirit to be encumbered with your old nonsense." I added the quote and grungy pink border in PSE before printing. I used my Martha Stewart edge punch on this and mm letters, Maya Road chipboard circles from my stash.

New Life: Every year we get a mother moose and her two babies in our yard. I wanted to keep the tones soft so I basically just added pics and white rubons to complete this LO.

My Pockets: I loved the funky colors of the papers so decided to make a funky page with curvy borders and doodles. Journaling reads,"So what do my pockets say about me ? First, I'm a minimalist - I take only essentials. I;m not into fashion - no handbag for me. Also, I'm a little absentminded so it's less to lose. I hate to take the time to organise - I just stuff everything in my pocket and go. Of course it gets tricky if I forget to transfer everything from one pocket to another when I change jackets and end up with no money. Only 2 credit cards - keep it simple. Medical cards - now Nathan is diabetic. Driver's licence. Receipts - mainly the LSS and grocery stores - I don't like to shop. Clump of bills. List on scrap of envelope - my memory isn't what it used to be and I love to recycle."
I created the journaling block in PSE and I added some Zinnia pearls from my stash.

Gotcha: I thought the thought box was perfect as a title block for this pic of a bald eagle. I love the contrast of the orange papers with the black I added some Zinnia pearls from my stash and used my EK success edge punch

Hearty Breakfast: Journaling reads,"When we camp we start the day off with a hearty breakfast; sausage, eggs, bacon, bagels, cream cheese - sometimes even altogether in one sandwich." Believe me - Lauren can pack it away ! I added some Zinnia jewels and mm stickers from my stash.

Mr. and Mrs. - Purple always reminds me of my wedding since our wedding colors were purple and yellow. I decided to just use the 'frame' part of the pattern paper and cut out the middle and used it for another layout. I kept it pretty simple since I didn't want to distract from the photos. Items from my stash - Imaginisce paper flowers and brads; Making Memories ribbon and buckle.

Beating the heat - A fun bright layout that resembles summer to me. I adhered the rubons to different colors of cardstock and then used circle punches. The 7gypsies black and white paper is from my stash.

Wicked! - My little family recently spent the day at our local amusement park. I kept the map and incorporated it into my layout underneath the few pictures I took. To make the title stand out I traced the exclamation onto white cardstock, chalked the edges with purple chalk ink before adhering to the back and attached to my layout with pop dots. Red glitter alphabet stickers are from my stash.

me album - I have a layout that I've made about my weight loss progress, but thought how much better it would be to do it long term. I plan not only to record stats, and put in pictures in this little album, but also quotes and thoughts of my journey. My stash: Wood album and rhinestone pearls made by Kaiser. Definition paper by 7gypsies.

On the Verge
My one year old son has been talking up a STORM lately as he is learning new words. I was really inspired by the speech bubble journal tags included in this kit to do a page about it! I happened to snap this picture of him the other day and I thought it was perfect! I included in one fo the journal tags some of the words he is saying. The black thickers are from my stash. For the "verge" i chose to cover some chipboard letters (also from my stash) in book paper. I thought the words all over it was perfect for reiterating the topic of my page!

A La Boy
I have been sick lately so I haven't been up to doing all the usual cleaning that i usually do. It gave me a chance to REALLY notice what our house looks like! i.e. plains, trians, etc EVERYONE due to my two little boys! LOL I snapped some random pictures one day of all the little places their toys tend to be. Thickers and chipboard letters from my stash.
